Department Profile:
The term ‘Nidana’ means diagnosis. It deals with the knowledge of examination of patient, diagnosis of disease & laboratory investigations. The department is a perfect place to understand both classical and contemporary diagnostic methodologies. The department has an in house, 24*7 central laboratory which is handled by the faculties, PG and competent staff. Very few Ayurveda institutes in the country have such a well-established facility since more than two decades. Hence, Practical knowledge through its robust infrastructure along with strong theoretical guidance by seasoned faculties help in developing clinical acumen. Both UG and PG students of the department get hands-on experience of dealing with patients and learning experimental clinical pathology in the laboratory. Students are encouraged to take up Ayurveda research projects which are relevant to contemporary challenges in society.

UNIQUE FEATURES
- Our departmental laboratory is an important asset. Analysis of antibacterial activity of Ayurvedic herbs (through culture and sensitivity) like Shigru, Apamarga, Palashbeeja, Swarnakshiri are feathers in cap of our laboratory.
- The department of Rog Nidan has a museum with 44 specimens showing pathological changes occurring in organs. eg. Specimens of liver cirrhosis, Myocardial infarction, Tuberculosis of lung etc.
- Professional hazards are amongst top in Departmental thrust areas of research. Department has worked on computer workers, B.P.O. workers, Bus drivers, Traffic police, Heat industry workers in same regards.
- The Department has extensively worked on interpretations of etiopathogenesis of different aliments through Ayurvedic principles. Hypo and Hyper- thyroidism, Hypertension, Varicose veins, heart disease to name the few.

Health Camps & Community Outreach
- Conduction of regular health camps and awareness programs in rural and urban/under-served areas. These camps provide free basic health check-ups, diagnostics, preventive care who might otherwise lack access to medical services. These include both general and specialized camps.
- These activities give students practical exposure to diverse health conditions, seasonal diseases, and community health needs alongside faculty supervision — reinforcing diagnosis, patient communication, and wellness education.
Outreach in Adopted Villages & Special Programs
- Screening and awareness camps in various places including schools, old-age homes, and community centres to support vulnerable populations is regularly organized. These programs typically involve preventive screening and health education

- The faculty carries out health awareness talks and wellness programs that align with Ayurvedic principles and public health outreach.
Exposure to new students as hand holding initiative
- The department with proper permission of the authorities allows internship for students other than Bharati Vidyapeeth. Access the expertise and training in the department laboratory is given to these students as a part of hand holding of the community
In all these activities role of departmental students is pivotal as they get good clinical exposure and develop soft skills like empathy passion and communication which are essential to become a good clinician
