Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune (India) College of Ayurved & Hospital, Dhankawadi, Pune is indispensable component of Ayurved College. It was established on 16th August 1990. This 200 bedded hospital is sited very close to the college building in the scenic campus of Bharati Vidyapeeth Educational complex at Pune – Satara Road. It is spread over 5886 sq. mtrs.
Our Hospital is proudly NABH accredited and is honored by all major insurance companies. It is a spacious four storied well ventilated building, having good basic amenities like stretcher lifts, Casualty, OPD, IPD, Pathology laboratory, Panchkarma unit, operation theaters, labour rooms. Our Hospital is among few Ayurveda Hospitals with NICU, 24 hrs Pathology Lab service, 5 OTs including C Arm equipped Operation Theater and a unique ‘Pediatric Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation unit’. It is also center for many Multi Centric Clinical Trials.

The 200 beds of the hospital have been distributed on the basis of the terms and norms laid down by the NCISM-former CCIM amongst the 8 departments i.e. Kayachikitsa, Panchakarma, Shalyatantra, Shalakyatantra, Prasuti Tantra & Stri rog, Kaumarbhritya Tantra, Agadtantra, Swasthavritta. All IPDs have well ventilated wards, nursing station and dispensing units. The IPDs are fully equipped with Ayurvedic and latest advanced devices and instruments that help in their smooth functioning and assure complete patient care.
The field of "Panchakarma" is one that the entire globe is interested in.
Special Panchakarma unit is developed in hospital where students get direct experience of Panchakarma Procedures. Panchakarma means five standard therapeutic procedures like Vaman,Virechan, Basti,Nasya and Raktamokshana. It is a special kind of treatment mentioned in Ayurvedic classics for prevention as well as cure. Patients suffering from various diseases are treated here by scientific administration of Panchakarma. Promising results are obtained in Sandhigata Vata (Osteoarthritis), Aamavata (Rheumatoid Arthritis) and skin disorders especially in Psoriasis.

Inauguration of Pediatric Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation unit
The Pediatric physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), College of Ayurved and Hospital was inaugurated by Dr Asmita Jagtap, Executive Director, Bharati Vidyapeeth Medical Foundation on 30th November,2020.
This unit is well equipped to help the child to achieve optimal physical development.
Children who have not achieved the milestones like turning over, sitting, standing, walking who are not able to hold objects in the hand not able to write having sensory impairment will benefit from this unit. Along with physiotherapy, the Balroga Department manages the above diseases with Panchakarma and effective Ayurvedic medications.
These are conventional procedures practiced since thousands of years. Ksharakarma is a method of treating surgical diseases by using a special kind of medicated thread (Ksharasutra) . It is practiced for particularly ano-rectal diseases. Agnikarma Chikitsa is a noninvasive technique that gives encouraging result in Vata Vyadhi ( Neurological disorders), sciatica, frozen shoulder, acute and chronic painful condition of joints and soft tissues ,cervical and lumbar Spondylosis, corn, keloid, calcaneal spur etc. and specially in patients where NSAIDS are contraindicated.

Digital Radiology Machine
A new Digital Radiology Machine is installed in Rognidan department of Bharati Ayurved Hospital. The D.R. Machine will improve the quality of X-ray. The inauguration of new D R machine was done on 22 Jan 2021 by Hon. Dr. Asmita Jagtap madam. Principal Dr A B Patil, Medical Director Dr Shubhangi Katkar, teaching and non-teaching staff were present for the function.
The Shalya, Prasuti Tantra & Stri Rog and Shalakya departments make the best use of the four air conditioned operation theatres that are manned by well-trained staff and complete state-of-art equipments. All of four Operation Theatres are spacious so that good number of students can observe procedures. A separate allotted C-arm image intensifier bearing operation theatre is available for urology, orthopaedic & neurological surgery cases. Operative procedures such as Ksharasutra, Agnikarma, Caesarean section, Hysterectomy, Tubectomy, Hysterotomy, Cervical Encircalage, Tuboplasty, Dilatation & curettage, Biopsies, Hernia, Appendectomy, Hydrocele, Plastic Surgery, Malignancies, Urology, Orthopaedic & Neuro surgery, Cataract surgery, Squint Correction, Pterygium Surgery, Dacrocystectomy Tonsillectomy, Tympanoplasty, Mastoidectomy, Septoplasty Auroplasty, Thyroidectomy, Nasal Tip correction, F.E.S.S., various scopys in E.N.T. etc. are regularly performed on a planned basis. Emergencies are efficiently managed through casualties & departments.
All standard Ayurvedic & allopathic medicine prescribed in hospital are dispensed in our dispensing unit. The same are stored in clean, airtight containers in a specious dispensing unit. Freshly prepared decoctions (prepared in In house Pharmacy) are served to hospitalized patients.
There are reasonable number of patients in the OPD and IPD to enable conduction of bedside and OPD clinics. The students get good clinical exposure to partake in operative procedure. They are allowed to assist in minor operative procedures and perform several Panchakrama procedures themselves under the supervision of the staff. They get hands on experience of case taking of the OPD and IPD patients. The P.G. Students are encouraged to handle cases independently under the supervision of faculty and attend all the camps and seminars conducted by the hospital and college.
